We provide a one-year warranty. Should you encounter any issues during product usage, please contact the ABOOSTY Team.
How can we ensure the quality of the products?
Firstly, we are confident in our quality not only because we are ISO9001 and IATF16949 certified, but also due to our adherence to strict quality control standards. Our products are also certified for REACH and RoHS compliance. If you have additional certification requirements, we can assist with the certification process and provide the necessary documentation.
We strongly recommend ordering samples for inspection. Besides, feel free to request detailed, real photos via email to verify that the product meets the specifications outlined on the product page.
How can we obtain samples from you?
Samples are available upon request. Typically, we require two days to arrange them. If this is our first transaction with you, there may be charges for the sample and courier fees.
What if my wireless device involves multiple PCBs interconnected? Will that impact my radiation performance?
Interconnecting the grounds of multiple PCBs might affect the overall radiation performance of your device. This might be corrected by just a tuning of the matching network. For a full analysis of your multiple-PCB device, please consider using one of our services.
A sticker antenna including a UFL cable does not need matching, isn’t it easier for my wireless design?
Changing the antenna position concerning your PCB will significantly impact the antenna performance. This means that the overall position of your sticker inside the device will change the overall radiation performance compared to, let’s say the bare, uncovered device as preliminary tested in your lab. In contrast, choosing the right placement of a chip antenna ensures a predictable, reliable design process and final performance throughout the entire design process.
Will I lose coverage in my device compared to an external antenna?
The performance of an internal antenna, such as a chip antenna, is comparable to that of a short stubby antenna on your device, yet is far more convenient in terms of product design, manufacturing, and reliability. An increase of coverage throughout an external antenna is only achieved by using large directional external elements (such as long dipoles or dipole arrays), which however reduce coverage in adjacent directions away from the main one.
Why do insist that ‘antenna design goes first’ for any wireless device?
The antenna performance is optimized by choosing the right placement of the antenna chip on the board and keeping it clear from shielding elements that might block radiation. By choosing the right board size and antenna placement your entire wireless embedded design will become predictable and reliable, making your whole design experience smoother, with a reduced number of iterations and fewer problems in the certification stage.
Are bigger antennas always better?
No. Different sized antennas offer different performance benefits based on several different factors.

Can I mount two antennas next to each other?
If using two antennas on a vehicle, it is recommended to have a minimum of 300 mm separation distance between the antennas to ensure no interference.
What is antenna gain?
Technically the gain (when measured in dBi) of any given antenna is the performance compared to an isotropic radiator (a theoretical antenna that radiates equally in all directions). Hence the “i” in dBi.
The gain of a ½ wave dipole is universally accepted as 2.1dBi.
So the important thing to remember is that gain is not an absolute value of power but the ability of the antenna to radiate more or less in any direction compared to a theoretical antenna.
Without getting too technical, the gain in dB is a logarithmic (base 10) scale and as a rule of thumb:
3dB = 2 x power gain
6dB = 4 x power gain
10dB = 10 x power gain
13dB = 20 x power gain
16dB = 40 x power gain
What is the difference between ground-dependent and ground-independent antennas?
Ground Dependent antennas require a ground plane (usually a large metal surface) to operate effectively, whereas ground-independent antennas feature an elevated-feed assembly, meaning they do not require a ground plane.
Can I use an antenna switch with two different antennas?
While there are several 3rd-party antenna switches available on the market, Aboosty does not recommend the use of these products as any potential performance gains will be offset by loss through the splitter, sometimes as much as 1dB.
Will shortening the antenna coaxial cable affect the performance?
If the coaxial cable is cut and joined correctly there will be minimal effect on the overall performance.
However, it must be understood that coaxial cable is a form of transmission line and comprises an inner core surrounded by a braided shield which is isolated by a plastic layer. To maintain the integrity and performance after the cable has been cut the cable must be rejoined using coaxial connectors.
A male PL259 connector is the standard connector used for two-way radio, there is a recommended instruction sheet available from our website here.
In situations when the coaxial cable is cut and joined, a male PL259 connector is required at each open end and connected by a female in-line adaptor. The connectors and adaptor should be finished and sealed using ‘self-amalgamating tape’
Important: We advise customers any damage caused by modifications to the product will void the warranty.
Which is the best type of antenna for my vehicle?
Several factors determine which antenna is suitable for a specific application. For a detailed explanation of the different types of antennas and their benefits, please contact the Aboosty team. Our project managers and RF engineers will provide you with the necessary insights.
